It was the chief city of a district Cibyratis. Strabo writes that the Cibyratae were called descendants of the Lydians, who once occupied the Cabalis, but also of the neighboring Pisidians. He also mentions that the Cibyratae spoke four languages: Pisidian, Solymian, Greek, and Lydian.
