187024<p>I am not a professional dealer but am downsizing my library which I have collected over some 60 years.</p><p>This book was published for 'Beeton's Boy's own Library'. The other books I have seen for sale have been rebound in maroon cloth but this is bound in blue cloth with a very impressive front which makes me think it is the original binding. The 120 illustrations were made mainly from the Zoological Gardens in Regents Park. The edges of the pages are still in bright gold top bottom and side. The spine is loose but the pages seem well bound together. It is scuffed at the top and bottom of the spine and the corners are damaged but the rest of the book is in good condition considering its age. See photos.</p> Ward, Lock & Tyler hardcover

The pictorial cloth from the original binding in nicely laid-on to the front. With one hundred and twenty illustrations by Harrison Weir T. W. Wood and other artists principally from drawings made in the Zoological Gardens Regent's Park. Contents: a little spotting. A few light smudge marks and small marks to edges. Some corners lightly curled/creased. Last page of text browned/dotted. Otherwise pages generally very good and clean. Previous owner's inscription dated 1873. Boards: very good. Light blemishes to front. A very good tight copy of this scarce title. 440 pp. London: Ward, Lock, & Tyler, (no date, circa 1870s). hardcover
