Claude e Pierre Perrault furono fratelli del famoso scrittore e narratore di fiabe Charles Perrault. Claude fu architetto e medico; sue sono la facciata e l'ala del Louvre. Pierre, meno noto rispetto ai due fratelli, si dedicò agli studi di idraulica. <BR>L'opera è tratta dei seguenti argomenti: Volume 1: Del peso e durata dei corpi; Della linfa delle piante; etc. Volume 2: Del Rumore; della musica degli antichi, della medicina; Volume 3: della meccanica degli animali; organi di sensi, movimento, cibo. Volume 4: dei sensi esterni, etc. Volume 5: Raccolta di vari trattati di fisica e meccanica (macchine nuove: orologio a pendolo, ponti, ecc); trattato dell'origine delle fontane, dove cita principi di fisica, con rispettive riflessioni sulle varie opinioni, partendo dai grandi filosofi e maestri antichi, Platone ed Aristotele, Vitruvio per poi arrivare alle teorie ed opinioni più moderne di autori come Cardano, Van Helmont, Descartes, Papin, Gassendi, Duhamel e molti altri.<BR>Esemplare discreto in solida pergamena, internamente presenta arrossamenti diffusi e accentuati a talune pagg. soprattutto al primo vol. Dorso del primo tomo restaurato. Piccole mende alla pergamena del secondo tomo, internamente alone di umido alle prime pagg. e ancora un piccolo lieve alone all'ang. inf. est. per poche pagg. Strappo restaurato al ritratto dell'autore. Manca la tavv.
