2008HWCL-D6-HC-1860948626-1P9<p>ADVANCES IN MULTIPHYSICS SIMULATION AND EXPERIMENTAL TESTING OF MEMS Computational and Experimental Methods in Structures Illustrated Edition by Attilio Frangi Editor Professor of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics Subrata Mukherjee Editor & 2 more<br />HWCL-D6-HC-1860948626-1P9-B16-ASH-2008<br />This volume takes a much needed multiphysical approach to the numerical and experimental evaluation of the mechanical properties of MEMS and NEMS. The contributed chapters present many of the most recent developments in fields ranging from microfluids and damping to structural analysis topology optimization and nanoscale simulations. The book responds to a growing need emerging in academia and industry to merge different areas of expertise towards a unified design and analysis of MEMS and NEMS.<br />Review<br />This book would be of interest to those in academic or industrial research that model MEMS devices. The book will provide some of the latest methods used to model these devices along with some experimental methods used to characterize MEMS. -- IEEE Electrical Insulation Magazine "IEEE Electrical Insulation Magazine"<br />Product details<br />ASIN †: ‎ 1860948626<br />Publisher †: ‎ Imperial College Press<br />Publication date †: ‎ February 1 2008<br />Edition †: ‎ Illustrated<br />Language †: ‎ English<br />Print length †: ‎ 504 pages<br />ISBN-10 †: ‎ 0333542940<br />ISBN-13 †: ‎ 9780333542941<br />Item Weight †: ‎ 1.28 pounds<br />Dimensions †: ‎ 6.1 x 1.3 x 9.1 inches</p> Thomas Telford Publishing hardcover
15371The Yorkshire Union of Mechanics Institutes Victoria Chambers Leeds. 9 November 1878. 1p. 12mo. In good condition on lightly aged and creased paper. Consisting of a series of appalling puns the letter reads: 'Dear Sir Thanks for the Time Table it was a "rail" service and for your offer of a meal which will suit me to a "T" and for your selection of a bed as I prefer Bedford to Bedlam and for your instructions to change my train. It is easier to miss a train than to train a miss. I feel now that I shall get to Royston with only the Hitchen that is necessary and I am itching to get there when I feel that I am Warren-ted safe. I remain My dear Sir Yours truly'. The 'signature' consists of a self-portrait of his bearded head in profile smoking a cigarette. According to W. H. K. Wright's 'West-Country Poets' 1896 Curzon 'had long been actively engaged in his leisure in promoting the foundation of educational institutes in London and elsehwere . In 1853 he was appointed secretary of the Warrington Mechanics' Institute; he then removed to Huddersfield in the same capacity and went to Leeds where he still resides in 1871. Since that time he has been the "head centre" or organizing secretary of the Yorkshire Union of Institutes .'. Warren was the founder of the 'Royston Crow' newspaper. 004873Alnwick: H. H. Blair Four pieces of ephemera and three photographs relating to the Alnwick Mechanics' Institute dated between 1869 and 1878. All are lightly worn with evidence of being removed from a scrapbook one of the photographs has a small surface abrasion and tear leading to slight loss of image towards lower right hand corner. The ephemera includes a broadside dated 1869 with list of prize winners for various subjects including chemistry art and mathematics; two handbills about the fiftieth and fifty-fourth anniversary of the Institute; and a handbill about an extension to the building as the class sizes have grown with a list of subscribers. The three photographs are probably c.1874 and probably show the interior of the building during the fiftieth anniversary exhibition. The building still stands is now a Grade 2 listed building and is possibly the oldest surviving purpose-built Mechanics' Institute. Though famously dismissed by Engels in 'The Condition of the Working Class in England' as where "all education is tame flabby subservient to the ruling politics and religion so that for the working-man it is merely a constant sermon upon quiet obedience passivity and resignation to his fate" the Mechanics' Institutes did provide an introduction to education for many who otherwise would not have had any access.
