Interesting account of the visit paid by the Danish astronomer Thomas Bugge to the scientific establishments in France immediately after the French Revolution. This is the edited version by Maurice P Crosland.

Profusely illustrated by diagrams, tables and equations, included in vol. II is an erratum on the topic of Earth Rotation. Classic and fundamental work on ballistics pre-WWI by Commandant Prosper Jules Charbonnier (1852 - 1936), published in the series Encyclopédie Scientifique Bibliothéque de Mécanique Appliquée et Génie. Scarce work in first edition complete in two volumes and in such a good condition. Prima edizione, completa in due volumi, in francese. Copertine editoriali tela arancione, scritte in marrone e rosso ai piatti e dorsi, lievi tracce di polvere e minima usura, carta ingiallita dal tempo, nel complesso in piu' che buone condizioni. Famosa opera di balistica di Charbonnier, pubblicata nella serie Enciclopedia Scientifica Biblioteca di Meccanica Applicata e Genio Militare. Difficile da reperirsi completo in due volumi e in buone condizioni come questo esemplare.

The set comprises Vol. I: Standard Components and Repair Methods; Vol. II: Engine, Clutch and Gearbox; Vol. III: Body, Chassis and Frame Repairs; Vol. IV: Electrical and Accessory Equipment' Vol. V: Data Sheets -40 separate folding tables). 'Before 1930 it was comparatively rare to find a garage in which the mechanics had a really expert knowledge of their work' (Preface by Edward Malloy). The most comprehensive manual of its time (it was still in common usage in the mid-1960s). For obvious reasons it is rarely found in really good state - the folding data sheets are particularly elusive. This is a remarkable set. COMPLETE SETS IN THIS CONDITION ARE SCARCE.

In 8° (19,5x12,1 cm); 284 pp. e 8 c. di tav. più volte ripiegate. Legatura coeva in mezza-pelle con fregi in oro al dorso (titolo impresso a secco ma scolorito). Piatti foderati con carta marmorizzata coeva. Tagli spruzzati in azzurro. Un leggerissimo ed ininfluente alone al margine basso delle prime 20 venti carte e nelle ultime 4 carte, mai fastidioso od intenso. Prima edizione francese che presenta in prima edizione le aggiunte di Molard, di questo importante trattato del grande politico ed economo inglese Thomas William Coke, I conte di Leicester (Londra, 6 maggio 1754 - Longford, 30 giugno 1842). L'autore divenne celebre per la rivoluzione agricola che impose alle sue estese proprietà agricole nel territorio del Norfolk che ebbero un tale impulso sulla produzione agricola da esser da molti paragonata agli effetti produttivi avuti della rivoluzione industriale sulla produttività inglese. Uomo di grande ingegno fu anche un appassionato bibliofilo. La sua opera è considerata come una delle principali della storia dell'agricoltura moderna. Questa edizione francese si avvale delle aggiunte di Molard che fu "Saggio emerito de l'Ecole Polytechnique, Direttore del Conservatorio Reale di Arti e Mestieri e membro onorario del Comitato consultivo delle Arti e Manifatture. L'opera, in questa prima edizione francese è arricchita di 8 belle tavole più volte ripiegate con immagini di innovative macchine agricole. Il volume oltre a trattare delle migliori tecniche di irrigazione ed al funzionamento di numerosi nuovi macchinari descrive anche la migliore organizzazione dei giardini e tratta anche dell'allevamento delle pecore. Numerosi poi sono le parti dedicate all'influenza delle nuove tecniche agricole sull'economia dei paesi che la applicano. Esemplare in buone-ottime condizioni di conservazione e assai poco comune.
