Lasell College Massachusetts student life Photograph album circa 1905 to 1906 documents the daily academic and social experience of women enrolled at one of the earliest institutions in the United States dedicated to higher education for women. Founded in 1851 as the Auburndale Female Seminary and later developed into Lasell College the institution combined academic instruction with training in domestic science art and music at a time when women's access to formal education remained limited.
