Some darkening and finger soil to the spine light edgewear good hinges firm text block clean pages. personal bookplate inside front cover handwritten pencil note gifting the book to his daughter same name as bookplate mounted on the front free endpaper no other markings. The slipcase has some edge rubbing and minor chipping to the edges of the open side spine label darkened but legible. The recipient George Henry Sargent 1867-1931 published a bibliography of Newton in 1927 and between 1903 and 1931 wrote a weekly column on book collecting for the Boston Evening Transcript. His bookplate is on the front pastedown. In This Book-Collecting Game Newton 1864-1940 discusses his lifelong passion for books. The contents are partly based on articles he published in the Atlantic Monthly and other periodicals. Octavo. Colour frontispiece illustrations in text.
