Radical labor leader Euguene Debs was national secretrary-treasurer of this union from 1880. He subsequently left the union to the form the United Railway Union. Fournier & Cie but the catalogue mentions that they were providers to the Ministry of War and the Ministry of the Nay the Railway Companies etc.</p><p>The catalogue details the various supplies offered for sale with their individual prices : Motor-Pump 1919 model hand pumped fire engines water hand pumps mobile and fixed fire stations pipes hoses buckets lamps breathing apparatuses accessories…</p>

A rare offprint relating to the arbitration award in a court case between the Eastern Railroad and an important early labor union the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Enginemen in 1913. The text contains an "Interpretation of Award Previously Filed on April 23 1913" comprised of additional legal inquiry on how to apply the arbitration award correspondence related to the inquiry and additional information communicated to the managers of both sides relating to a variety of issues including passenger service switching services employees on electric locomotives and more. The three principals involved are the judge in the case W.L. Chambers W.W. Atterbury of the Pennsylvania Railroad and Albert Phillips Vice President of the Brotherhood. Law Reporting Company unknown
18952803London: Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen 1895. Very Good. This broadside is a wonderful expression of Labor's ability to care for their own. Progressing through and showing the happy life of a working family the death of their breadwinner through a terrible train accident and the ultimate care given to the bereaved family with both money and a cheque from the BLF. One of the panels depicts the same broadside displayed behind the widow as she recieves the money from the organization that her dearly departed was wise enough to belong to. Printed by Alexander Gow & Company London. Allegorical chromolithograph broadside 29-5/16 x 22-7/8 inches wide with some toning soil and stains browning verso - overall still bright colorful and complete. "The Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Enginemen B of LF&E was a North American railroad fraternal benefit society and trade union in the 19th and 20th Centuries. The organization began in 1873 as the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen B of LF a mutual benefit society for workers employed as firemen for steam locomotives before expanding its name in 1907 in acknowledgement that many of its members had been promoted to the job of railroad engineer. Gradually taking on the functions of a trade union over time in 1969 the B of LF&E merged with three other railway labor organizations to form the United Transportation Union.' wiki.
