184012966Batesville AR: January 11 1840. 1p. 4 x 5.5 inches docketed on verso. Old horizontal fold toning. Very good. An interesting manuscript record of slave care in Arkansas in the 1830s. The short but impactful document reads in full: "Recd of William McNight Admin. Of Hiram West Decd three dollars for medical attention upon negro boy Jack in 1836. Batesville Ark. Jan 11 1840 DJ Chipman." Such documents are increasingly rare in the market and more uncommon than slave sale documents from the same period. Arkansas has just achieved statehood four years before the presetn document was written. January 11 unknown

A9781138389915Hardback. New. The evolution of segmentation is one of the central questions in evolutionary developmental biology. Indeed it is one of the best case-studies of the role of changes in development in the evolution of body plans. Segmented body plans are believed to have appeared several times in animal evolution and to have contributed significantly to the evolutionary success of the taxa in which they are present. Because of the centrality of the subject and the continuing interest in understanding segmentation the book will prove an invaluable reference for students of evolutionary developmental biology at all levels - not only those interested specifically in segmentation - for years to come. Key selling features: Explores the role that segmentation has played in the phylogeny of animals Documents the diverse mechanisms by which segmentation develops Reviews the independent evolutionary origin of segmentation Provides insight into the general patterns of serial homology hardcover

19731916West Germany: Oberkochen/Wurtt 1973. Paperback. Good. Text in English and German. Thin oblong paperback just shy of folio size. 1973 presumed first edition with no additional printings listed. A fair to good copy - with heavy wear at the edges - a large floppy publication so it has taken a bit of a beating around the edges including chips minor bending and corner bumps. Light soiling to the white rear cover and scuffing to the black front cover with a brilliant photo of a crater gracing the cover. Interior is full of full page color and black and white plates of Zeiss' space photography. 78 pp. with photos from Zeiss for NASA and descriptive text alternating in German and English. A unique and amazing book in a truly awkward binding and format. Scarce in any condition.

Oberkochen/Wurtt paperback
