1933028580Hollywood CA: Hollywood Print Shop 1933. Octavo. 203 pages. Inscribed to Monte Montague who before his long career as Hollywood Cowboy worked as a ten year old boy he began working in a circus and over the years he became a clown acrobat and tumbler. When the author writes that he is just a "joey" circus slang for "a clown" it is something Monte Montague could relate to. p. 193-197 lists over 500 terms the author calls "the Language of the Lots" which include those akin to those who skirt the law and the "in language" of those who work day-to-day in the circuses ranging from the smaller venues to those of Barnum and Bailey. One of the most informative on the days of the circus from the late 1880's to the early 1930's.
