Binding fine interior with occasional foxing but generally clean.Important late 18th century book of practical guidance in architectural design and building. Of particular interest and value to the modern reader is Pain's estimate list of prices of building materials and for labor; includes "Price for bricklayer's work" "Price of carpenter's work" "Price for mason's work"; "Price of painter's glasier's sic plumber's and smith's work"; and price lists for materials used in such as boarded floors mouldings columns pilasters doors shutters wainscotting groundfills joists floors oak squares for brewing etc. William Pain c.1730-c.1790 was an English architect and carpenter and had authored four earlier works of similar subjects.
