Cocchi e, a conclusione, osservazioni dal ?De subitaneis mortibus? (1706) del Lancisi: inizio dell'epidemiologia, su base autopsica, della morte improvvisa, dalla terza edizione dell'opera voluta nel 1708 dal Morgagni. This collection of some lesser-known but important autopsy findings by famous 17th and 18th century scientists and physicians begins with notes by Willian Harvey; it also contains the entire collection of Marcello Malpighi's observations (from his work ?Anatomica? and the Ms 2085/II), an unpublished work on autopsies by A. Cocchi and, to conclude, observations from Lancisi's ?De subitaneis mortibus? The Author has found unknown observations of high-level pathology in the 'Opere Mediche' by Lorenzo Bellini, originally printed in 1683 and 1695, remarkable for the perfect autopsy descriptions and for Bellini's effort to go beyond the pathology of singles organs. Bellini is the first to envisage an inter-organic pathology, based upon blood and nerve flows ('flusso nervino'), that predates the late 1700's breakthroughs made by Xavier Bichat. 337 gr. 170 p.
