The Soviet Cultural Ministry back in 1939 apparently decided to produce their own Wizard Of Oz and designated "Volkov" to devise it. Hardings successful campaign for the Presidency of the U.S. and was subsequently appointed Postmaster General. After a year in that position he resigned to become most famously known as the first President of Motion Picture Producers and Distributors of America MPPDA which under his guidance published a blacklist of actors and workers studios should not hire inserted moral clauses into actors' contracts and published an informal list of suggested guidelines for film producers. Paul Leyssac was a well-known stage actor who appeared opposite Ethel Barrymore and Marie Tempest and whose recitals of Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf were widely popular. Danish-born and French-accented he was also an accomplished translator of Danish fairy-tale author Hans Christian Andersen. He also appeared in 7 films of the late 1930's and early 40's.
