Hardcover bound in original green cloth with gold embossing on the spine. There is moderate wear to the binding. Covers are rubbed and bumped at the edges. The headcap and foot of spine are just beginning to fray. Spine is sunned. Outer edges of the text block are toned. The spine is also cocked. Front gutter is somewhat exposed between the end pages. There is light foxing to the front end paper and half title page as well as to the rear end papers. There is also some dark spotting to the very outer edges of the last several pages. Condition notes: Boards grubby and bumped with the spine strip split for a few millimetres top and bottom and the strip itself with damage to the edges. Binding firm. Pages clean with no foxing. Previous owner's label to front pastedown a later owner's name and date at the top of that same page and a pencil note I think by the binder or bookseller on the same page apparently noting his customer's name.
