"Charles Heels worked for the railways from 1912 until his retirement in 1960. Over the years he collected and recorded the history of his vocation. From early in the twentieth century he collected and took photographs related to his special field. The result is that the only copy of many of the photographs of the early days of railroading in Canada have been preserved in his collection. This book illustrates over 100 of these photos and records the history of many of the events which make up the history of railroading in Canada.
