Brand new book in excellent condition in every respect. New. Flawless. Hard to believe considering publication date, but true. Contents include: native people, the Lillooets, miners of the Gold Rush; pioneer farmers; the drainage of the valley for a road to Vancouver. A great many black and white photos, 348 pages including index, bibliography.
Book is in excellent condition with very light shelf wear to covers only. Binding is solid and square, covers have sharp corners, exterior shows no blemishes, text/interior is clean and free of marking of any kind except for previous owners name at half title page. 348 pages, maps, b&w photos.

With half-titles, and errata leaf at end of each volume. The aquatint titles and plates are engraved by C. Apostool after Ireland. LARGE PAPER COPIES ARE SCARCE. Author came to Cecil Lake from Saskatchewan in 1928 when he was seventeen. He spent eight years on the Nelson Trail between Fort St. John and Fort Nelson, two of them with Henry McLeod, who contracted for the Hudson's Bay Co. He has spent most of the summers ho-boing around on horseback all the way from the foothills of the Upper Halfway, down over the old Dunvegan Trail to Fairview, and on the the old town of Peace River." - from page 3. A readable account of the origins and mission of an Anglican parish founded in 1866 in the Cowichan Valley region, of wich the present city of Duncan is now the centre, on southern Vancouver Island, British Columbia. The work traces the many links past and present between the parish and its people and the communities in the region, including Salt Spring Island, as well as with the extensive native community. There is a full description of the historic cemetery, still in operation, as well as biographical sketches of some of the many interesting former parishioners who lie buried in it. Book
