Cambridge and Oxford report copies also. The first 200 pages list in detail the histories of coal mining in Great Britain as well as the details of each of the firms. The remainder gives statistics of the reserves of coals the coal prices wages accidental deaths. P. 292-295 called diary gives the events in the industry throughout the year beginning with railway rates reduced strikes settlements minimum wage bill introduced in Parliament the owers resistance the Tub train disaster and the rumination of the labor agreement at the end of the year. An indepth look at coal and coke mining in terms of the owner's interest and the miner's appeals for a fair wage. Bound in brown cloth lettered in gilt spine gilt but fading some rubbing to edges. This book is tightly bound with over 100 black and white plates of fine Chinese bronze mirrors. It appears to have been rebound in thick red library binding. Spine has good strong gilting on title and library number. Front has a small oval insignia of the S.F. Public Library. The front pocket has been removed leaving some paper remnants. Title page has old perforated library stamp. The pages have faded to a deep ivory with slightly darker edges that have a touch of foxing. Page ends are speckled from the original marbly paper design. Red covers have good strong even color. Cover edges have moderate light usage some soil spots along spine gutter and a small old pen dash but looking well-preserved for their vintage.
