Binding is solid and square, covers have sharp corners, exterior shows no blemishes, Dust jacket shows edge and corner wear with a repair in clear tape to the front cover. Arguably the finest work of the two pioneers of wildlife photography. Cherry Kearton's photographs are perfectly complemented by brother Richard's text. 'It is confidently believed that the work will form the finest gallery of sun pictures of wild birds and beasts, taken amidst their natural surroundings, ever published in this or any other country' (Preface). To this day, the Royal Geographical Society's Kearton Medal is awarded for outstanding work in the field of natural history. Uncommon in this condition.
