Contents clean and tight inscription in ink to the top of the half title dated 1904 original end-papers toned and a little brittle around the edges slight spotting to title page and the odd page edge some rusting to staples running down the spine of the first few gathers plates clean. A very good copy. The plates used in different editions of this work are not standard and vary in quality this particular edition includes plates printed to a high standard and importantly the eggs are illustrated with shadows giving a particularly 3-dimensional look: they are in our opinion superior to some earlier editions. Each issue contains 8 or 9 gorgeous full color plates; also retained here are the full color covers of Vol. I Nos. 1 and 2 unknown whether succeeding issues continued with color covers thus approx. 150 plates total all essentially as issued some with small library stamp on verso only. Text block is clean and otherwise unmarked. This title appears to have ceased publication at the conclusion of Vol. IV so this offering comprises 75% of the total run.
