A large-format 13-1/2 by 18 inches pamphlet offering suggestions for ad campaigns to encourage Americans to reduce their gasoline consumption to support the war effort. <br /> <br /> This publication aimed at gas station chains and manufacturing company procurement offices offers suggested ad designs and ad copy that encourages conservation ride sharing and reduced speeds in order for refineries to supply more petroleum products for the military. Among the fun facts: it took three tons of gas to drop a one-ton bomb over Germany.<br /> <br /> The cover title of this publication is "The Petroleum Industry's Part in the Gasoline Conservation Drive." A second pamphlet 1944; 30 pages "Information Program: Gasoline Conservation" prepared by the Office of War Information is laid into a pocket at the back.<br /> <br /> 3–70 pages. First edition no indications of later printings. A very good copy in wrappers with some war to the corners. Stapled rusted; centerfold leaf present but detached from the staples. Ads for truck companies such as White International Harvester & Herbert Chandler along with oil pumps gasoline service station pumps and more fill the pages. Of additional interest are the several articles directed towards the fallout from the Teapot Dome Scanda the Panamerican Oil Co. Doheny Fall & Sinclair and court decision analyses. The large folding map of the Baldwin Hills Oil Field by Walker Clute and Samuel Perry is quite scarce not only offering a plat map of oil leases and lease holders in the record breaking oil field but coupled with an article touting the Inglewood Oil Field.
