A large-format 13-1/2 by 18 inches pamphlet offering suggestions for ad campaigns to encourage Americans to reduce their gasoline consumption to support the war effort. <br /> <br /> This publication aimed at gas station chains and manufacturing company procurement offices offers suggested ad designs and ad copy that encourages conservation ride sharing and reduced speeds in order for refineries to supply more petroleum products for the military. Among the fun facts: it took three tons of gas to drop a one-ton bomb over Germany.<br /> <br /> The cover title of this publication is "The Petroleum Industry's Part in the Gasoline Conservation Drive." A second pamphlet 1944; 30 pages "Information Program: Gasoline Conservation" prepared by the Office of War Information is laid into a pocket at the back.<br /> <br /> 3–70 pages. First edition no indications of later printings. A very good copy in wrappers with some war to the corners. Stapled rusted; centerfold leaf present but detached from the staples. Produced under direction of the Product Conservation Committee for the Petroleum Industry War Council unknown
