First edition of this original rock poster created by Guy Juke for the famed Armadillo concert by Dire Straits just three weeks after their groundbreaking third studio album “Making Movies.†With frontman and guitarist Mark Knopfler the band achieved superstardom by the early 1980’s. The Armadillo club had opened in Austin TX just after the closing of the Vulcan Gas Company and the legendary rock music venue offered an electic range of performers including Bruce Springsteen Ravi Shankar AC/DC Willie Nelson and Stevie Ray Vaughan. If not for the Armadillo Austin may never have called itslef the “Life Music Capital of the World†and would close New Year’s Eve Dec. 31 1980 just 8 weeks after this concert. Armadillo World Headquarters was actually revived in Feb. 2024 as a pop-up venue for the SIMS Foundation. Juke b. 1951 is an Austin TX graphic artist and musician well known for his memorable posters created for the Armadillo World Headquarters and known as one of the “Armadillo Art Squad†creating sharp-edged figures on geometric settings. A very scarce first English translation of Anatole France's philosophical rebuttal to the "yellow peril" fever of the time. The first English translation of this work. From a series of English-translated works of Anatole France edited by Victorian publisher Frederic Chapman. With the publisher's original unclipped dust wrapper unpriced. Undated dated from identical copies held institutionally. With twenty-four pages of the publisher's advertisements to the rear. 'The White Stone' by French poet journalist and novelist Anatole France follows a French men's discussion about the world's state. The views explored reflect the author's own sharing his usual topics of interest such as colonialism religion and racism. The books ends with an interesting prediction of the rulers of a future race. With a contemporary ink inscription dated 1911 to the front free endpaper "souvenir amical de Charles Emile Roche" referencing the translator of this work. In the original cloth binding. With the original unclipped dust wrapper unpriced. Externally smart with fading to the spine cloth and slight bumping to the extremities. Dust wrapper is also smart with edge wear and a couple marks. Overall in an impressive condition for its age. Internally firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean save for the contemporary ink inscription to the front free endpaper. One script a Final Draft belonging to an auditioning actor Jenny Sullivan with her name in holograph ink on the front wrapper; the other script is bound in red faux leather with gilt tiles a color photograph of a human fetus bound in and both scripts bear letters from a professor at the University of California describing the possible methods and techniques detailed in the screenplay and their applicability to contemporary 1974 ethical and legal conditions. Brief annotations on laid-in slips in holograph ink throughout the first script. Laid in is a signed letter from director Nelson to Jenny informing her that she is a finalist for the role of Victoria ultimatly the role went to Barbara Carrera. <br/> <br/>An exploitation film owing much to "Bride of Frankenstein" as well as the technological advances with DNA in the 1970s. Dr. Paul Holliston Hudson is a scientist who discovers a method to accelerate the birth cycle to just a few days. The maturation process has detrimental side effects and the mature adult a woman shows homicidal tendencies. <br/><br/>Set in Los Angeles. <br/><br/>First script:<br/><br/>Light blue titled wrappers undated.
