Nela Rodrigues Cordeiro trata de resolver problemas que eram suscitados nos tribunais da época relativamente a quatro tipos de questões jurídicas: as relativas aos testamentos as questões relativas às sucessões ao direito enfitêutico e aos interditos possessórios ou seja as acções que tinham por fim defender e proteger a posse de qualquer bem alvo de esbulho ou ameaça aos direitos do seu legítimo dono.</p>_x000d_<p>As folhas preliminares contêm extensa dedicatória a D. João Ribeiro da Fonseca; e um índice das questões esclarecidas em cada uma das dúvidas em que estão divididos os tratados. As quatro páginas depois da segunda numeração contêm duas páginas em branco duas páginas com as erratas a terceira paginação contém um pormenorizado e extenso índice temático.</p>_x000d_<p>João Rodrigues Cordeiro Vila de Fonte Arcada Pinhel 1651 - Moimenta da Beira 1731 Bacharel em direito pela Universidade de Coimbra. Foi advogado em diversas causas em especial as relativas à Diocese de Lamego onde conheceu D. António de Vasconcelos Sousa Bispo da diocese que se tornou o seu patrono.</p>_x000d_<p>D. António de Vasconcelos e Sousa Elvas 1645 - Coimbra 1717. Era irmão de Luís de Vasconcelos e Sousa 3.º Conde de Castelo Melhor e Escrivão da Puridade do Rei D. Afonso VI. Foi nomeado Bispo de Lamego e 14 de Janeiro de 1692 posteriormente passou a ser Bispo de Coimbra em 6 de Abril de 1706 e exerceu o seu múnus até falecer em 1717. Foi um Bispo que muito ajudou as Ordens Religiosas os fiéis através dos Párocos e os estudantes que pessoal e ocultamente se dirigiam ao Paço. Inaugurou o convento do Louriçal em 8 de Maio de 1709; lançou a primeira pedra para a actual igreja de Santa Justa em 24 de Agosto de 1710; presidiu em Aveiro a 25 de Outubro de 1711 à trasladação das relíquias da Princesa Santa Joana para novo túmulo; presidiu também à trasladação das relíquias das princesas D. Teresa e D. Sancha para novos túmulos em Lorvão; lançou a primeira pedra do Colégio dos Franciscanos Capuchos de Santo António da Estrela. Clear printing with round characters and some italics in the dedication summaries and notes with decorative headpieces with plant motifs with the sacred trigram in the centre decorated initials and finishing <em>fleurons</em> among them some of great beauty and size such as the one at the end of the prologue at the end of Jerónimo de Beja"s laudatory poetry at the end of the second part page 219 at the end of the fourth part page 226 and at the end of the index page 144.</p>_x000d_<p>Copy with minor damage on the hinge of the front pastedown and on the spine with loss of leather slight wear to the boards especially at the corners; with one front flyleaf missing and the other almost loose with moth holes on the first few leaves up to page 80 with an ink stain on pages 102 and 103 with a damp stain on pages 135 to 144 and the back flyleaves which are partially glued with na handwritten coeval marginal annotation on page thirteen underlining and marginal notes in coeval ink and with a small loose bifolium placed between pages 108 and 109 with annotations in coeval handwriting on three of its four pages.</p>_x000d_<p>First and only rare edition of this work which was the only one published by the author. In it Rodrigues Cordeiro tries to resolve problems that arose in the courts of the time in relation to four types of legal issues: those relating to wills issues relating to inheritance emphyteutic law and possessory interdicts i.e. actions aimed at defending and protecting the possession of any property subject to encroachment or a threat to the rights of its rightful owner.</p>_x000d_<p>The preliminary pages contain an extensive dedication to Bishop António Vasconcelos Sousa Bishop of Coimbra and Count of Arganil. who had previously been Bishop of Lamego in which the author emphasises the illustrious ancestry of the Bishop of Coimbra who belonged to the lineage of the Counts of Castelo Melhor. This is followed by the Ad Lectorem i.e. the author"s Prologue to the readers laudatory poems by the author and the work of Father Jerónimo de Beja of the Society of Jesus and Miguel de Soto Maior Canon of the Cathedral of Coimbra; Licences dated from 11 August 1711 to 28 June 1714 with the approval of João Ribeiro da Fonseca; and a book by the Bishop of Coimbra João Ribeiro da Fonseca; and an index of the issues clarified in each of the questions into which the treatises are divided. The four pages after the second numbering contain two blank pages two pages with errata and the third page contains a detailed and extensive thematic index.</p>_x000d_<p>João Rodrigues Cordeiro Vila de Fonte Arcada Pinhel 1651 - Moimenta da Beira 1731 Bachelor of Laws from the University of Coimbra. He was a lawyer in various cases especially those relating to the Diocese of Lamego where he met Bishop António de Vasconcelos Sousa who became his patron.</p>_x000d_<p>D. António de Vasconcelos e Sousa Elvas 1645 - Coimbra 1717. He was the brother of Luís de Vasconcelos e Sousa 3rd Count of Castelo Melhor and Clerk to King Afonso VI. He was appointed Bishop of Lamego on 14 January 1692 then became Bishop of Coimbra on 6 April 1706 and exercised his office until his death in 1717. He was a bishop who greatly helped the religious orders the faithful through the parish priests and the students who came to the palace personally and secretly. He inaugurated the convent of Louriçal on 8 May 1709; laid the foundation stone for the current church of Santa Justa on 24 August 1710; presided over the transfer of the relics of Princess Santa Joana to a new tomb in Aveiro on 25 October 1711. He also presided over the transfer of the relics of Princesses Teresa and Sancha to new tombs in Lorvão; he laid the foundation stone for the Capuchin Franciscan College in Santo António da Estrela.
