Nice original cloth binding embossed with an arabesque design in blind. Sir Thomas Noon Talfourd 1795-1854 became an intimate of Lamb's literary circle beginning in 1815. His able performance as an advocate and judge allowed him to devote himself for over forty years to his avocations - poetry theater criticism and literary good-fellowship. He was the executor of Lamb's will. The 'Memoir' which enthusiasts of Lamb owe to Talfourd was issued in two portions. The first in 1837 under the title 'Letters of Charles Lamb'. The second was this work published after an interval of eleven years. In England it was titled 'Final Memorials of Charles Lamb'. It consists mainly of letters to Coleridge and Wordsworth with biographical comment by Talfourd. The two works were first incorporated in 1868 and have been frequently republished.
