Giulio Giannini Jr. 1901 – 1992 was known for using the difficult technique of leather insets in bookbinding creating a mosaic effect with different colored swatches of leather. The binding here employs decorated fabric bands laid down horizontally and secured with leather ties. Giulio Giannini e Figlio founded in Florence in 1865 is a custom maker of handmade books journals and fine papers.<br /> <br /> Profusely illustrated with color woodcut engraved prints devices and borders of peasant art from all the regions of Italy by Eleonora Gallo. There are XXXIII color plates. English translation by C. Tassinari. Oblong 4to folio 114pp decorative end papers. Cream linen with decorative cloth bands laid down. There are no leather ties .
