Il voyagea en Italie et se lia avec Vasari à Florence. Il est surtout célèbre pour les nombreux dessins qu’il exécuta pour de grands graveurs comme Collaert, Galle, Goltzin et Sadeler.Sous la gravure, un quatrain latin explique le travail des éléphants.
