The Biblia Naturae is one of the finest collections of microscopical observations ever produced by one worker. The book is consulted by naturalists to this day, and some of the figures have never been excelled. Although most of the objects studied were insects (depicted on 25 plates), Molluscs were also well represented (depicted on 8 plates), and especially the anatomical research of Helix pomatia and Sepia officinalis are remarkable. A further 3 plates depict the anatomy and stages of the frog.
