Bella incisione probabilmente della metà del XIX secolo tratta dalla monumentale opera di storia naturale di Buffon, carta spessa. L'incisione rappresenta tre specie di pesce platessa. In buone condizioni, fioriture. Usure al margine sinistro. TECNICA: Incisione DIMENSIONI FOGLIO: cm 20x12,5 DIMENSIONI INCISIONE: cm 14x9 EPOCA: 1850 circa Buffon fu un'esponente del movimento scientifico legato all'illuminismo e le sue teorie influenzarono le generazioni successive di naturalisti in particolare Jean Baptiste Lamarck e Charles Darwin. Questa è la sua opera più celebre ed è l'"Histoire Naturelle" pubblicata per la prima volta tra il 1749 ed il 1789 in 36 volumi di cui 8 postumi grazie al lavoro di Bernard Lacepede. Buffon espone tutto il sapere dell'epoca nel campo delle scienze naturali e proprio in questo scritto rilevò le somiglianze tra l'uomo e la scimmia e la possibilità di una genealogia comune. His most famous work is l'"Histoire Naturelle" published for the first time between 1749 and 1789 in 36 volumes of which 8 are posthumous thanks to the work of Bernard Lacepede. Buffon exposes in the work all the notions in natural history and in this writing in particular underlined the similarity between monkeys and man with a possibility of common genealogy.
