Appears to be of 'Edition De Luxe' but numbered outside of the 20 resevered for sale; this copy being 52. Handmade paper remains bright with instances of fine tanning to edges; scattered marks smudges. Foxing appears minimal. Translated from the German. With 85 heliogravure plates. Inscription from C. W. Sperling on page facing title he was an important gallery curator in NYC with ties to the Metropolitan Museum. She was married to Paul Avery investigative journalist notably of Zodiac killer and Patti Hearst until his death in 2000. She was instrumental in founding the St. James Infirmary a medical and social service organization serving sex workers in San Francisco.
