She was a member of various botanical art societies; she exhibited at the Royal Horticultural Society RHS Botanical Art exhibitions held in The Lindley Hall London; for the 2004 exhibition she prepared a mixed collection of botanical works including studies of Romneya coulteri and Papaver orientalis 'Beauty of Livermere' in a later exhibition she presented a themed collection featuring various Meconopsis blue popy species and cultivars. Ann Smith was an accomplished botanical artist who painted with great fidelity her plants morphologically accurate and finely detailed but her paintings are always well composed and perhaps it is this her strong sense of composition that is her greatest quality.
