194231684New York: Farrar & Rinehart Inc 1942. Hardcover. 374pp. Octavo 21 cm Red cloth covered boards with gilt stamped titles on the spine and front cover. Very good. The extremities are gently bumped and rubbed. The cloth along the top edge is just a little frayed. Very minor spine lean. There is a contemporary gift inscription on the front free endsheet. Subtly yellowed pages. The dust jacket is in fair condition. There is a large loss from the bottom edge of the front panel. There are also multiple small losses from the rubbed and creased edges. Subtly faded spine. The jacket actually still looks quite attractive. From the dust jacket- "River Lady is the epic of the empire of lumber of fortunes made and lost of forces and deeds that changed the face of a continent of the lives and loves and bitter struggles of the men and women whose life was the Mississippi and lumber.
