Vue en coupe explicitant l'aménagement du puits artésien de Passy.A la réorganisation tant architecturale qu'urbaine de Paris, impulsée durant le dernier tiers du 19ème siècle par Napoléon III et qu'il confie pour sa mise en oeuvre au baron Hausmann, répond le travail d'Alphand sur le volet des parcs, jardins et aménagements urbains liés au végétal dans Paris. La volonté de faire dialoguer constructions et nature, prend toute sa force dans l'apport d'Alphand qui conçoit des parcs et jardins, tous différents, tous adaptés à leur lieu d'implantation. Dans un style bucolique et pittoresque, chaque espace est élaboré sur les plans des circulations, des pavillons qui le ponctuent, du mobilier qui l'agrémente jusqu'aux détails tels que les plaques métalliques protégeant la base des arbres. Les plantes retenues pour scénographier ces lieux sont minutieusement choisies pour leur caractère ornemental notamment. Il s'agit d'une conception globale prenant en compte jusqu'au réseau d'égouts souterrains pour l'évacuation des eaux de pluie. Chacune des planches décrivant les travaux programmés se compose de vues en plan, d'élévations, de coupes générales ou de détails. L'ensemble présente, en dépit d'un caractère technique, un tempérament décoratif et ornemental.
