150 pages. Abstract as follows: "The vegetation of the Vernon map sheet area is diverse in response to variation in climate and site conditions. The diversity of the plant cover is characterized by vegetation types. The vegetation of the area is characterized by two Regions: the Dry Interior and Interior Wet Belt Regions. Within each region, patterns of zones (climactic climax potential) and subzones (successional patterns) are recognized. A standard reconnaissance vegetation survey was implemented and 290 vegetation plots were located. Computer analysis of the plots resulted in the identification of forty-five vegetation types, representing seral and climax vegetation in the Dry Interior and Interior Wet Belt Regions. For each type the relationships between environmental characteristics and vegetation were assessed. The evaluation of these relationships is important for the application of the vegetation information to resource management. Interpretations of each vegetation type are made for wildlife, forestry and recreation values. The interpretations provide information which can be used to assess relative values of vegetation for different users." Average wear. Unmarked. Minor sticker residue upon illustrated front cover. Drushka's portrait of him, compiled over years of reading through the public record and working closely with MacMillan's family and business associates, is a respectful but clear-eyed look at the real H.R.: the ardent conservationist who was also a ruthless business tycoon; the shy, retiring gentleman who was also described as an "elemental force of nature:' the strait-laced businessman who had a lifelong friendship with his eccentric cousin Mazo de la Roche; the devoted family man who maintained a decades-long intimate friendship with his secretary." - from strikingly illustrated dust jacket.
