Near fine throughout. <br/><br/>Well-executed research collection compiled by United States Forest Service entomologist Richard H. Smith on the study of damaging forest insects on various pine species in the American Southeast. Album covers the effects of bark beetles the pine engraver beetle black turpentine beetle southern pine beetle the sawfly pine tip moth and reproduction weevil as well as seed and cone insects. Includes an apparently complete series of 12 loose color photographs measuring approximately 7.5’ x 5.25” and dated 1953-1955 each with typed caption sheets; 10 cover the effects of the black turpentine beetle on slash pines in St. Johns and Baker counties Florida; 2 show the effects of IPS engraver beetles on longleaf pines in Worth County Georgia. Materials possibly used in production of several of Smith’s 1950s publications including THE BLACK TURPENTINE BEETLE ITS HABITS AND CONTROL 1955. paperback books
