A monthly periodical published with content for the whole family including a charming "Juvenile Department" with stories for children. This particular issue is of note for an article that mentions "animalcules" an early conception of microorganisms and explores their role in the potability of water "Are the Infusoria Winter-Killed". Also includes a biographical sketch of the poet Thomas Chatterton 1752-1770 a Sentimental story "Aunt Leigh's Orphans" and "The Mother's Corner" which offers housekeeping and gardening advice. The "Eclectic Department" in the rear delivers on its promise offering articles on the Edelweiss flower pig raising life among the Jesuits and "Japanese Horses and Carriages". 8vo 9.75" by 6.5" pp. 3 210-260 4 in original printed light peach-colored wrappers. unknown
