Pagine 120. Flora Sinensis, pubblicata a Vienna nel 1656, costituisce uno dei primi testi a stampa dedicati alla storia naturale della Cina. È un'opera molto rara che si conserva solo in alcune prestigiose biblioteche europee. Fu redatta dal gesuita polacco Michal Boym (1612-1659), un colto e impavido missionario che soggiornò a lungo nel Celeste Impero, dove descrisse numerosi esemplari di piante, frutti e animali, dedicando a ciascuno di essi realistiche immagini puntualmente corredate dai rispettivi nomi in latino e in cinese. Seguendo una tradizione ormai consolidata, Aboca ha realizzato un'edizione facsimilare della preziosa e affascinante opera con l'obiettivo di divulgare uno dei primi impatti sul continente europeo della millenaria sapienza medico-botanica orientale. Il volume, riprodotto con estrema cura, è arricchito da un approfondito commento dove un gruppo di specialisti spiega le conoscenze medico-scientifiche, il panorama storico-politico e le credenze religiose locali. L'originale, che presenta le tavole incise colorate con raffinati pigmenti, è conservato presso la Biblioteca Trivulziana nel Castello Sforzesco di Milano (Triv. B 809).

Acquaforte misure: mm 184 x 133 Pittore e incisore italiano del periodo barocco che si formò alla scuola di Pietro del Po (Palermo 1610 - Napoli 1692) operando con il maestro in diverse città come Napoli e Roma. Oltre a divenire un noto pittore imparò nella sua bottega la tecnica dell'incisoria. Le sue opere sono caratterizzate da un segno personale maturato nel tempo, linee flessuose rese tramite l'impiego di puntinato. I soggetti da lui affrontati sono per lo più traduzioni di autori classici quali: Raffaello, Annibale Carracci, Pietro da Cortona, Giovanni Lanfranco, Lazzaro Baldi, Ciro Ferri e Carlo Maratta. In questa stampa attraverso un segno ondulato che dona plasticità alle figure vediamo raccogliersi intorno alla Sacra Famiglia i Re Magi e due pastori in sandali e toghe. In una costruzione degradante, da sinistra verso destra, troviamo San Giuseppe uomo anziano e stanco, la Vergine seduta di profilo, giovane e avvolta in un lungo abito panneggiato che regge nel grembo il Bambino paffuto e con un lungo ciuffo di capelli colto nell'atto di voltarsi a guardare amorevolmente la madre. Il Bambino regge nelle mani una scatola che uno dei re magi gli ha donato. Sullo sfondo due cammelli, delle fronde e uno scorcio dell'architettura che da riparo alla Sacra famiglia. In basso sulla sinistra sulla superficie di una pietra sbrecciata la rappresentazione di profilo di un uomo e una donna, forse un'allegoria del mondo antico. In basso a destra è inciso "Pietro Aquela inventor et fecit". Si tratta quindi di una delle rare incisioni di invenzione dell'autore. Impressione eccellente dai delicati contrasti chiaroscurali su carta vergata. Ampi margini oltre la battuta del rame. Ottimo stato di conservazione. Bibliografia: Le Blanc n.18
Lugduni juxta exemplar Parisiis, è Typographia Regia, 1719, volumi 3, in-4, legatura coeva in mezza pergamena con titolo calligrafato ai dorsi, piatti in cartone decorato in bicromia, tagli spruzzati di rosso, pp. (6), XXXII, (16), 695, (10), 58, da 329 a 592, da 593 a 695, (11), 58. Bella vignetta (giardino botanico con loggiato) incisa alla carta A1 del tomo I, eleganti fregi al frontespizio e come testata, finali, capilettera in xilografia. Agli altri 2 tomi bel frontespizio calcografico ripetuto (angiolini in volo che sorreggono cartiglio con titolo inscritto sovrastanti veduta prospettica di giardino botanico) e complessive 314 tavole incise dal pittore Claude Aubriet (1665-1742), che aveva accompagnato Tournefort nel viaggio in Medio Oriente nel 1700-1702. Esemplare a cui mancano le prime 173 tavole (relative alle classi I-VII "de herbis et suffruticibus"). I tomi II e III, invece di contenere come previsto solo le tavole, ripetono in parte anche il testo già contenuto nel I. Minuscoli fori di tarlo ai dorsi, che interessano anche i margini bianchi di alcune cc. del vol. 1°; privo della prima carta bianca; qualche macchia e cerniera del piatto ant. in parte staccata. Dorso macchiato al vol. 3°. Si tratta della traduzione latina degli "Elemens de Botanique" (1694). Ex libris: Francisci Lucchini Philosophis et Medicinis Doctoris Romani.
