Substantially revised and enlarged 20th Century Edition of this apiary classic which not only presented Langstroth’s invention of honeybee hives but also a number of innovations and changes by Dadant 1817-1902 which included adapting the Quinby size frames to the Langstroth hive system. Filled with additional illustrations and revisions from Langstroth himself who had commissioned Dadant to carry out the work when his health failed in the 1880’s this French-American quickly established his text as a necessity for aspiring beekeepers. Langstroth 1810-1895 fabricated the hives for sale with Henry Bourquin a local cabinetmaker and beekeeper and although he secured a patent in 1852 Patent No. 9300 other beekeepers quickly adopted his designs and he spent many years unsuccessfully defending the patent. cm. 17 x 24, xlvi-284 pp. Biblioteca di bibliografia italiana La ricerca si ? svolta in ambito strettamente apistico tramite la consultazione di opere e di bibliografie relative a questo specifico settore e in alcune biblioteche italiane attraverso l?indagine nei soggettari delle voci riguardanti l?ape e il suo mondo. L?innumerevole produzione letteraria (3818 titoli di 1319 autori) testimonia la molteplicit? degli intenti che hanno coinvolto un panorama di autori tanto eterogeneo da comprendere tutti gli ambiti socio-culturali italiani. Research has been carried out exclusively in an apiarian environment by consulting works and bibliographies relating to this specific field and through an investigation of the subjects pertaining to entries concerning the bee and its world in some Italian libraries. The numerous literary productions (3818 titles by 1319 authors) and the variety of form witness the multiplicity of intent that has brought together a wide heterogenous range of authors covering all Italian social-cultural levels. 610 gr. xlvi-284 p.
