1970WRCLIT78717Deventer: Foundation 'Octopus' 1970. 224pp. Quarto. Now loose bifolia laid into stiff printed wrappers. Perfect binding glue no longer effective as usual outer wrapper cracking at upper spine fold otherwise very good or better without the tin container and inflatable wrapper. First edition. A jarring and impactful visual record and synopsis of the anarchic theatrical production POPPETGOM mounted by Theater Scarabee beginning in 1968 and eventually touring in Milan Paris and Geneva. It includes drawings renderings photographs artwork and includes text by the poet Lucebert. Jan van Toorn designed the publication which tends to fall apart when removed from its packaging. Laid into this copy is a 4pp. mimeo brochure in English tracking Theater and Studio Scarabee from 1965 through Jan van Toorn's death in 1976. The pagination errors in pp. 161 - 164 have been corrected in pencil. Text variously in Dutch French and English. Foundation 'Octopus' unknown books
