Im Hintergrund sind fein gezeichnete medizinisch-instrumentelle Gestelle erkennbar die auf klinische oder geburtshilfliche Tätigkeit verweisen und dem Porträt eine fachliche Ikonographie verleihen. Die Kombination aus großzügig drapiertem Mantel ruhiger Gesichtshaltung und den Apparaturen schafft ein Bild des modernen technisch versierten Arztes während die polnische Inschrift und die Widmung an Brzozowska die soziale Einbettung in das gebildete städtische Milieu Galiziens erkennen lassen. Die Rezeption Großmanns scheint vor allem in der persönlichen Erinnerungssphäre seiner Patientinnen und im lokalen medizinischen Umfeld verankert gewesen zu sein; überregionale medizinhistorische Werke nennen ihn bisher nicht. Das Porträt stellt daher ein seltenes bildliches Zeugnis der bürgerlichen Arzt- und Geburtshelferikonographie im polnisch-galizischen Raum der ersten Hälfte des 19. Jahrhunderts dar und illustriert zugleich die Rolle der Lemberger Lithographie z. Lith. P. Pillera bei der Verbreitung solcher Danksagungs- und Erinnerungsblätter. unknown

The authors/editors Manuel Atanasio Fuentes and Miguel Antonio de la Lama compiled the Peruvian civil legislation adding citations notes cross-references and an appendix of laws decrees resolutions and other related regulations. Contains the text of the Peruvian Civil Code which was based on the Napoleonic Code and Castilian law from the colonial era with extensive notes and commentaries of Miguel Antonio de la Lama which include updated legislation digested judicial decisions and treaty provisions which made it a fundamental reference work for Peruvian jurists of the time. This 1870 edition was the first of what would become the standard reference commentary on the Peruvian Civil Code. The work was highly regarded and was reprinted multiple times reaching its sixth and final edition in 1928 before the 1852 code was finally replaced in 1936. It is an essential historical legal text for the study of civil law and the legal history of Peru in the 19th and early 20th centuries.
