Édition originale de cet ouvrage, l'un des plus importants dans le domaine de la parasitologie interne de l'homme et de l'animal. Dès 1850, Casimir Davaine (1811-1882) avait constaté la pullulation de bâtonnets dans le sang des moutons atteints de la maladie du charbon. Il précéda donc Louis Pasteur dans l'étude de cette maladie. "Davain's contributions to medical and veterinary microbiology were fundamental, for he was the first to recognize the pathogenic role of bacteriologia (...) [He] was one the the first medical microbiologists to recognize the role of the bacillus and to differentiate it from bovine septicemia (...) As early as 1857 Davaine thought of tracking down intestinal worms by seeking their eggs in the stools, a procedure still followed. Experimentally he specified the mode of development of the Ascaridae (Ascaris Iumbricoides) and of the Trichocephalus (Trichuris trichiura)" (DSB). Bon exemplaire.
