A very clean very tight copy with bright unmarked boards and no bumping to corners. 66pp. The 'Three Sundays' were 30th March 1851, 7th April 1861 and 2nd April 1871 with information taken from census returns. From these a picture of life in Wilmslow in mid-Victorian times has been drawn. A scarce book.

La perdita di identità, purtroppo, è attualmente il tratto fondamentale della città di Napoli. Si dirà che questa non è una novità, perché il fenomeno riguarda il ritmo travolgente di cambiamenti del mondo moderno. È necessario tenersi sotto osservazione e vedere se si possa fare qualcosa di diverso, assumere un rapporto più umano, ma non per linee generali e generiche. Bisogna andare all'appuntamento con l'istante, con la nostra vita cittadina, che sta cambiando sul filo della perdita non solo di identità, ma anche di solidarietà, di partecipazione dei singoli all'affanno e alle aspettative della comunità. È questo l'invito, soffuso di malinconia del libro.

2009 238 PP. LIEVI SEGNI DEL TEMPO, VOLUME PERFETTO E INTONSO, PARI AL NUOVO. Napoli è una città che non finisce mai di stupirci. È piena di monumenti, ricca di storia e, a volte, custodisce i suoi luoghi più belli con “discrezione” quasi a preservarli. È il caso del Real Monte Manso di Scala di via Nilo, un’antica istituzione napoletana sorta nel 1608 per volere del Marchese di Villa, Giovan Battista Manso di Scala. Il Marchese nel 1608 fondò il Real Monte per assicurare gratuitamente un’istruzione ai figli delle famiglie patrizie napoletane decadute facendolo gestire ai Padri Gesuiti. Il Seminario dei Nobili e la Cappella Sansevero Verso la metà del 1700 i Padri Gesuiti ristrutturarono il complesso di via Nilo unificando vari edifici acquisiti negli anni tra cui l’area sovrastante la Cappella Sansevero, acquistata dal Principe Raimondo de Sangro. I Gesuiti vollero dotarsi anche di una Chiesa perché, essendo aumentati i Seminaristi, avevano necessità di dotare il Seminario di quanto necessario per le attività spirituali. E la scelta per il luogo del nuovo edificio di culto cadde sul terzo piano del complesso, proprio sopra la Cappella Sansevero. All’epoca, il Principe Raimondo de Sangro era massone e “Gran Maestro di tutte le logge napolitane”: nel 1751 papa Benedetto XIV emise scomunica verso tutti gli aderenti alle logge massoniche. E’ probabile che i Padri Gesuiti scelsero con cura la posizione della chiesa proprio sopra la Cappella San Sever forse per sovrastare con un edificio di culto un “tempio massonico”. La Cappella del Real Monte Manso di Scala è stata recentemente e finemente ristrutturata, a cura e spese della Fondazione, ed è stupenda. Abbandonata per lunghi anni (quasi 50) è oggi un luogo bellissimo e ricco di opere d’arte. Sul magnifico altare ligneo c’è un bel quadro di Francesco de Mura che raffigura la Madonna con Gesù Bambino, con ai suoi piedi i Gesuiti che presentano i giovani da loro assistiti. Sull’altare ci sono rare e belle statue policrome di Sant’Ignazio da Loyola e San Francesco Saverio ai lati e dei quattro arcangeli al centro. L’accademia degli Oziosi Il Marchese di Villa, Giovan Battista Manso di Scala, donò alla fondazione ben 50.000 ducati (un enorme somma per l’epoca) oltre al palazzo in via Gerolamini e, alla sua morte, anche tutto il suo patrimonio. Giovan Battista Manso fondò nel 1611 anche l’Accademia degli Oziosi per lo studio delle Lettere, della Storia e della Filosofia. La accademia fu così chiamata poiché l’ozio, inteso come tranquillità, tempo libero e quiete, era la necessaria condizione per ottenere i risultati migliori: infatti il suo motto era “ Non pigra quies”. La prestigiosa accademia fu frequentata ed aiutò personaggi celebri quali il poeta Giambattista Marino, Giovan Battista Basile autore de “Lo cunto de li cunti”, Ascanio Filomarino, Giovan Battista della Porta e tanti altri. La sede dell’Accademia degli Oziosi era ubicata sulla collina di Sant’Aniello a Caponapoli e disponeva anche di uno splendido chiostro: solo successivamente si trasferì a San Domenico Maggiore nella stessa sala in cui S. Tommaso d’Aquino vi insegnò. Il Real Monte Manso di Scala oggi La sede del Real Monte Manso di Scala è in pieno centro storico, in via Nilo 34, nello splendido complesso restaurato a cura della Fondazione privata che lo gestisce. Vi consigliamo di visitarlo di persona perché è un posto veramente splendido. Sono previste una serie di visite guidate il 15 dicembre 2013 e il 3-4 gennaio 2013 a cura di Assodipendenti, di cui vi daremo i dettagli nei prossimi giorni. In più nel cortile del prestigioso palazzo ci saranno, a partire dal 7 dicembre 2012, una serie di iniziative tra installazioni, musica, teatro e performances a cura di Artestesa.

The 1951 census, held two years after Newfoundland became part of Canada, marked Canada's first census as a nation of ten provinces and two territories. The content of the population and household questionnaire covered name, sex, age, marital status, relationship to "head" of household, and the structural type and tenure of dwelling.
