Inside front cover appears stained by water which has seeped into the next page but beyond that - the title page is free from damage except for a little yellowing at the edges. Begonnen hatte alles 1871 mit zwei Pferdestärken und 9 Beschäftigen; 1907 verfügte die Fabrik über 4000 PS Maschinenstärke und 2500 Mitarbeiter davon allein 450 in der Gießerei Kapazität: 3600 Betten täglich. 800 hochpreisige Betten wurden täglich von Hand gestrichen doch verfügte das Werk auch über 18 Tauchtanks. Simmons stieg in zehn Jahren zum weltgrößten Produzenten von Bettgestellen aus Messing auf stellte aber auch Eisenbetten Hospitalbetten Matrazen und Klappstühle in einem Preisrahmen von 13 bis 500 US-Dollar her.
