br. Il 6 aprile del 2009 un violento sisma colpisce la città dell'Aquila, in Abruzzo. Sulla scena del disastro attori diversi incrociano visioni diverse del dramma e della sua riparazione: abitanti, soccorritori, amministratori locali, rappresentanti del governo centrale, forze armate e forze dell'ordine, esperti e tecnici della ricostruzione. Il caleidoscopio nebuloso delle visioni, che prende corpo ancora prima dello shock sismico, accompagna la ricerca di risposte possibili alle morti, ai crolli, alla perdita della città. I disastri stravolgono il tessuto sociale, mettono in crisi i rapporti di potere a vari livelli, ridefiniscono il legame degli abitanti con i luoghi obbligandoli a continue ri-locazioni identitarie. A partire dalle trasformazioni tanto repentine quanto traumatiche che una catastrofe scatena in un territorio, in questo caso quello aquilano, irrompendo con violenza nella sua storia, nelle sue dimensioni sociali, spaziali e culturali, il volume propone una ricostruzione del complicato mosaico dei punti di vista, delle percezioni, delle rappresentazioni soggettive della catastrofe. Le memorie individuali e collettive dell'evento costituiscono la fonte principale. Nelle narrazioni plurime del sisma emergono i margini lasciati alla resilienza; i significati, diversi, dei luoghi; i punti di non ritorno.

In his dream, he had a conversation with the sultan of the time, Abdülaziz, during which Ziya Pasha told the sultan that the country was mismanaged and the reasons for this mismanagement. He informs the sultan about the main aims of the society called the New Ottomans. Ziya Pasha, the pseudonym of Abdul Hamid Ziyaeddin was an Ottoman writer, translator, and administrator. After the 1908 Young Turk Revolution that reinstated constitutionalism in the Ottoman Empire, he adopted the pen name Gökalp ("sky hero"), which he retained for the rest of his life. As a sociologist, Ziya Gökalp was influential in the negation of Islamism, pan-Islamism, and Ottomanism as ideological, cultural, and sociological identifiers. In a 1936 publication, sociologist Niyazi Berkes described Gökalp as "the real founder of Turkish sociology, since he was not a mere translator or interpreter of foreign sociology. Gökalp's work was particularly influential in shaping the reforms of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk; his influence figured prominently in the development of Kemalism, and its legacy in the modern Republic of Turkey. Influenced by contemporary European thought, particularly by the sociological view of Émile Durkheim, Gökalp rejected Ottomanism and Islamism in favor of Turkish nationalism. He advocated a re-Turkification of the Ottoman Empire, by promoting Turkish language and culture to all Ottoman citizenry.
