Very good. - Over 120 words penned in Italian in a secretarial hand on 11-7/8 inch high by 8-1/4 inch wide creamy white laid paper with an integral attached blank leaf. Antonio Farnese expresses his congratulations on the promotion of Carlo Collicola 1682-1730 to the position of Cardinal. Boldly signed by Antonio Farnese as Duke of Parma. Folded several times vertically and horizontally with a couple of tiny holes to the inner border. Near fine.</p><p>The third son of Ranuccio II Farnese Antonio Farnese 1679-1731 succeeded his brother as Duke of Parma on 1727. He was the last Farnese Duke of Parma and Piacenza.</p><p>The Italian Jesuit prefect Carlo Collicola 1682-1730 graduated in law from Rome's La Sapienze University. He was appointed as Treasurer General of the Apostolic Chamber and Prefect of the Navy in 1721 a position he held until his promotion to Cardinal on April 30 1728 receiving the cardinal's hat and deaconry of Santa Maria in Portico Campitelli on May 10th. In December the pontiff granted him the title of free and independent administrator of the land of San Felice al Circeo. Cardinal Collicola took part in the conclave that elected Pope Clement XII.</p> Parma: 14 May, 1728.
