Dans cet ouvrage, l'homme politique (il sera notamment sous-préfet de Cognac en Charente de 1804 à 1808), financier et grammairien Marc-Alexandre Caminade (1746-1816) s'attaque aux obscurités de la métaphysique grammaticale, défend une graphie moderne des pluriels ("parents" au lieu de "parens"), améliore le repérage du texte en numérotant ses paragraphes, etc...
