Henry Barton Dawson (1821-1889) was born in England and emigrated to New York City in 1834 (in 1863 he resided at Morrisania, NY). He was an editor of the pro-temperance 'The Crystal Font' and 'Rechabite Recorder.' He wrote 'Battles of the United States by Sea and Land' (1858). In 1863 this edition of The Federalist (Foederalist), created an intense controversy with James A. Hamilton and John Jay.
