Première édition française accompagnée de nombreuses planches hors-texte noir et bleu et de 14 pages de partitions (paroles et musique). Le "manuel pratique" de mise en œuvre de la célèbre méthode du pédagogue allemand Friedrich Fröbel. Inventeur des "jardins d’enfants", il est l’initiateur d’une transformation révolutionnaire dans l’apprentissage de la première enfance au moyen d’un programme gradué d’éveil par le jeu et le rapport à la nature. Longue introduction de Bertha de Marenholtz-Bülow, l’une des plus ferventes disciples de Fröbel. Les nombreuses planches lithographiées représentent principalement le matériel pédagogique. Accroc de cuir sur le plat supérieur. Coupes frottées, rousseurs éparses, quelques annotations au crayon. Déchirure à la planche XLIV sans manque. Exemplaire légèrement défraîchi. Organe officiel de la rue de Grenelle, il constitue l'une des sources principales sur l'instruction publique durant la période : rapports, enquêtes et statistiques, correspondance, histoire, articles de presse, lois et décrets, projets, nominations, récompenses, programmes, les institution, discours, etc., etc. "La législation qui régit l’instruction publique va être renouvelée ; c’est une des promesses de la Charte, c’est un vœu, un besoin du pays. La loi nouvelle consacrera pour l’enseignement le principe d’une liberté à laquelle l’université et le pays applaudiront, pourvu qu’il n’y ait danger ni pour les intelligences, ni pour les esprits, ni pour les cœurs [...]. La publicité sera donc la garantie naturelle de la liberté de l’enseignement, elle la défendra de toute atteinte arbitraire et de ses propres excès. Telle est la loyauté des intentions du Ministre qu’il a lui-même provoqué cette publicité ; il a senti que, pour être efficaces, toutes les mesures qui s’adresseront, non plus à une soumission forcée, mais au concours volontaire des citoyens, devront être soumises à l’épreuve de la discussion. Claims the Anglo-Saxon race are lineal descendants of the Ten Tribes of Israel who were taken away as captives to Assyria about the years 770-721 B.C. by Tiglath Pileser, Ahalmaneser and Sargon. Claims the Almighty is today fulfilling in us (Anglo-Saxons) in our British Empire the national promises he made between three and four thousand years ago to Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, Israel and David; and that, in fact, we are British Israelites - "literal descendants of the Lost Ten Tribes; the continuation of the Israel nation; the inheritors of her Charters; the possessors of her guarantees and immunities from destruction; and the executors of her commissions." A fascinating exposition. Average wear and soiling. Former owner's inkstamp upon front endpaper. Only library markings are evidence of card pocket removal from front endpaper (which has created a small hole) and faint signs of erased library markings, also upon front endpaper. The presence of only very slight foxing, which is more pronounced strictly on the endpapers, is exceptional for a technical manual intended for practical use at sea. A highly collectible, fine copy of a scarce Victorian maritime manual. This second edition is a comprehensive guide containing practical examples and formulae for all maritime problems. It features detailed astronomical definitions illustrated by spherical and plane diagrams. Designed specifically for young navigators, it was structured to enable students to master the science of navigation independently. Registered and entered at Stationer’s Hall.
1888182961888. Women's Education Women History Teaching Certificate issued by Spain's Ministry of Development. 1888. Measures 17.5 x 12 inches. Text surrounded by decorative engraving of cartouches wrapped in vines with the royal crown above and a world globe below. The Ministry of Development served the broad purpose of public works education and charity including the National Geographic Institute indicated by the globe that appears on the certificate. The document reads in part "Therefore of order of the king the queen of the kingdom issues this title so that I can freely exercise the profession of teacher in the terms provided by the laws and regulations in force." Additional script written in hand on verso. Education played a vital role in offering one of the first employment options for educated women. Light toning and wear to edges does not affect image or text. Creased where folded. Overall very good condition. unknown
