Founded in 1922 by sisters Margaret and Gwendoline Davies the Gregynog Press was one of the leading fine presses of the first half of the 20th century and predominantly focused on Welsh material. Bayntun Rivière and the Gregynog Press were connected through George Fisher 1879-1970 the latter's binder from 1924. Fisher completed his apprenticeship at Rivière's and studied under Douglas Cockerell. It was at Fisher's suggestion that a number of copies of every Gregynog edition were bound in more luxurious covers.
