There is an ink inscription at the half title page: 'To George Younger. With best wishes and warm friendship in the Post-Viking era. From Norwegian Secretary of Defence Sept 26 1988'. Holst went on to become Minister of Foreign Affairs and was a member of the 4 person Norwegian team that facilitated the Oslo Accord - an agreement between Israel and the PLO Palestine Liberation Organisation in 1993. The book is in the original full leather binding which has blind stamped and gilt decoration to the spine and boards. All page edges gilted. The spine is slightly faded and there is a small scuff to the decoration at the top of the front board and 2 longer scuffs near the side edge of the back board. It is very clean sound and bright having been protected by a cloth-covered slipcase. The slipcase has gilt titles and design to the back and one side. The cloth is rubbed with some fraying to the back and some marking. There is light rubbing to the cloth elsewhere.
