Willis Linn Jepson 1867–1946 was a prominent American botanist. Jepson as a founding member played a significant role in the early formation of the Sierra Club. Fair book and Near Good dust jacket. Edgeworn with bumped corners rubbed boards and mildew staining. The jacket and a few leaves also stained. The jacket is edge chipped especially to the spine but is intact. 193226020046<p>Two-color black and red jacket on yellow paper shows general light soiling/rubbing not diminishing the stunning illustration. Shelfwear mostly to top edge with a few short closed tears chipping to tail of spine and all corners heavier chipping to head of spine. Slight darkening and heavier soiling to spine. Flaps clipped at all corners. Black coated boards are mostly clean and sharp with a 1/2" streak of a meddium brown paint stain to top of front cover near joint wrapping to top edge of board with just a dot at inner top edge of rear board. Light shelfwear to edges corners a bit bumped. Light rubbing to red spine titling but still nice and bright as is cover titling. Red topstain faded and all textblock edges toned and lightly dust-soiled. Interior age-toned but clean and tight. Previous owner's calligraphed bookplate to top half of front pastedown covering part of Margaret Ayer's red illustrated endpapers.</p> Friendship Press hardcover

Red/yellow/ black pictorial DJ moderate chipping at spine ends 1/2" closed tears at bottom and top front near spine and a verso tape repaired 2" x2" section at bottom front.
