BIGEL Gerard Joseph Marie. In 8vo; pp.XVIII, 380. Firma autografa del traduttore. Fior.

About The Book :Gold has great remedial virtues, the place of which no other drug can supply and having myself used it in practice for several years, I have come to regard it in the same light cannot do without it. To my mind there are varieties of disease that Gold, and Gold only, will cure, and others that Gold, and Gold only, will alleviate to the full extent of the possible ; and not a few of these varieties of disease are of the gravest nature. As a heart-remedy alone it claims the most earnest attention of every medical man. In homoeopathic practice it is neglected, and in allopathic practice it is practically unknown. About The Author : James Compton Burnett was born on July 10, 1840 and died April 2, 1901. Dr. Burnett attended medical school in Vienna, Austria in 1865. Alfred Hawkes converted him to homeopathy in 1872 (in Glasgow). In 1876 he took his MD degree.Burnett was one of the first to speak about vaccination triggering illness. This was discussed in his book, Vaccinosis, published in 1884.Along with other nosodes, he introduced the remedy Baccillinum. A prodigious writer he published over twenty books in his lifetime. His book, Fifty Reasons for Being a Homoeopath (1888), is of particular note for beginning homeopaths.J.H. Clarke, Robert T. Cooper, and James Compton Burnett together formed the 'Cooper Club'.This regular meeting of leading British homeopaths was the source of many of the symptoms in Clarke's Dictionary of Materia Medica.Clarke says of Burnett, "…during the last twenty years Burnett has been the most powerful, the most fruitful, and the most original force in homeopathy". About The Book : This book is a repertory of peculiar symptoms arranged in order of hierarchy. The author has studied various Materia medicas and repertories and put together 3333 keynote symptoms which act as pointers to a remedy. It would prove useful when a physician observes a PQRS symptom in a patient -- which is quite often in practice- but is unable to recall or not sure of the exact remedy. This book will help him single out the remedy and if it suits the case, can be prescribed. Also useful for students for memorising PQRS symptoms and differentiating between two similar remedies. About The Author : John Henry Clarke (1853 –1931) was an English classical homeopath. He was also, arguably, the most important anti-Semite in Great Britain. He led The Britons, an anti-Semitic organisation. Educated at the University of Edinburgh, he received his medical degree in 1877. As a physician Clarke had his own clinic in Piccadilly, London, but he also was a consultant at the London Homeopathic Hospital and did research into new homeopathic remedies. About The Book -: From primitive times the term “Herbal Simple” has been applied to any homely curative remedy consisting of one ingredient only, and that of a vegetable nature. Many such a native medicine found favour and success with our single-minded forefathers, this being the “ reverent simplicity of ancienter times.” Healing by herbs has always been popular both with the classic nations of old, and with the British islanders of more recent times. Two hundred and sixty years before the date of Hippocrates (460 B.C.) the prophet Isaiah bade King Hezekiah, when sick unto death, “ take a lump of Figs, and lay it on the boil; and straightway the king recovered.” In Shakespeare’s time there was a London street, named Bucklersbury (near the present Mansion House), noted for its number of druggists who sold Simples and sweet-smelling herbs. Various British herbalists have produced works, more or less learned and voluminous, about our native medicinal plants;Out Herbal Simples are fairly entitled at last to independent promotion from the shelves of the amateur still-room, from the rustic ventures of the village grandam, and from the shallow practices of self styled botanical doctors in the back streets of our cities. About the Author -: William Thomas Fernie (1830-1897) is the author of Herbal Simples Approved for Modern Uses of Cure. He wrote 7 books. Various British herbalists have produced works about our native medicinal plants but no author has hitherto radically explained about their ultimate curative action but W. T. Fernie.
